4pp folded card, untrimmed fore and lower edges, bearing a five stanza poem written by Cecil Day Lewis to mark the birth of his son, Daniel, in April 1957. One of a numbered edition limited to 200 copies, this being No. 119, signed by Cecil Day Lewis on the rear cover, and signed and inscribed by his second wife, the actress and broadcaster Jill Balcon, 'With love & Christmas greetings to Ruby from Jill'. Ruby has also written her name on the front cover. Daniel Day Lewis - the newborn of the poems title - went on to become one of the country's foremost actors (My Beautiful Laundrette, A Room with a View, My Left Foot etc), winning three Academy Awards for best actor. Cecil Day Lewis was poet Laureate from 1968 to 19172. The card is a little toned at edges, with a mild rust mark on the front cover, and similar on rear cover, else clean, neat and tidy. Tall, narrow 8vo.
