New Edition. xvi, 1680, (8) pp. Patterned blind-stamped quarter maroon cloth over olive green cloth boards, gilt titles to spine, With 32 colour plates and nearly 700 other illustrations. 8vo. A little rubbed at edges, a few marks on boards, gilt titles faded, light wear. Text block edges darkened. Small scar on front pastedown, some spotting throughout and pages just a tad toned. Contemporary adverts at front and rear (for, for example, Howard's Soda, Chivers Jellies and Marie Elizabeth tinned Sardines). Good, early edition of this perennial favourite - editions from the 1930s and 1940s are more common, so this one has particularly cache.
