Undated but likely 1949. A new, revised edition. xvii, 1680pp, 14pp advertisements in rear. 16 colour plates and nearly 350 illustrations. Quarter bound in red waxed buckram over pale green cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Cloth a little worn, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, with some staining on front panel, a scattering of marks all over.  Text block edges a little marked and toned, minorly affecting page edges.  There's a little staining around the edges of the front paste down else internally neat and clean.  Robust volume, firmly bound.  Large and heavy volume.
