The Poetical Works of John Milton, with Introduction and Notes (Volumes I & II) (Golden Treasury series)

Complete in two volumes.  lxxx, 380pp; 480pp.  Both volumes uniformly bound in full calf's leather with blind embossed and gilt decorations, red leather spine labels on six-panelled spines. Bevelled edges  All text block edges sprayed red.  Marbled endpapers.  12mo.  Boards are heavly worn with some scuffing and rubbing especially around corners and spines.  Some spotting on first and last few leaves in both volumes else internally neat, clean and tidy.  Front hinge broken in each volume, releasing the spine backstrip from the text block and loosening the front board. This once handsome set would make a good project for restoration and/or rebinding.  As well as Masson's introdcuction and notes, volume one contains a substantial memoir of Milton's life.
