Agnes Jekyll, the sister in law of garden writer Gertrude, was a well known society hostess.ย in the early 1920s she wrote a series of essays for The Times newspaper anonymously, with recipes set against her commentary and guidance on home-making.ย All those essays are collected here in this volume.
