[1870 or 1871]. The Complete Work, previously published under the title The Innocents Abroad and New Pilgrim's Progress. 256pp, 260pp, plus extensive publisher's illustrated catalogue for 1871 at rear. Engraved frontispiece, illustrated title page. Paper covered boards. 12mo. Covers scuffed, rubbed and chipped at edges, some loss of paper cover on spine. Some browning to early and last pages. Hinges cracked, binding holding. Small bookseller's embossed stamp on first leaf. With an introduction by Edward P Hingston. Scarce. Hotten presented a number of Twain's works to the London audience in 1871 under attention grabbing titles such as Screamers, and Eye-Openers. Pleasure Trip on the Continent is one of these. According to a New York Times article of the period, none of them were authorised by Twain. The article suggests this volume was published in 1870 but internal evidence suggests 1871.
